The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is looking for a student assistant to help support its communications work.

About Us 

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance is the only intergovernmental organization that is exclusively focused on addressing issues related to the Holocaust and genocide of the Roma around the world.  

We bring together governments and experts across disciplines to further understanding of the Holocaust and the genocide of the Roma and address contemporary challenges by developing and promoting international policies and programs that strengthen pluralistic, democratic, and inclusive societies and contribute to efforts to prevent future atrocities.  

The role 

As our new Communications Student Assistant you would: 

- Work closely with our communications team to implement our communications and social media strategies.

- Assist in creating, editing, and publishing digital and print communication collateral, including articles for the IHRA website and content for our social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook) and monthly newsletter. 

- Assist in drafting, editing, and publishing reports, publications, and annual reports. 

- Assist in developing social media assets using Canva.  

- Assist in typesetting reports and publications using InDesign.

- Help manage the IHRA website and implement SEO best practices. 

About you 

- Currently receiving your master’s degree in history, political science, sociology, communication, or a related discipline. 

- Relevant professional experience with a focus on communication and writing, preferably in an international environment would be an asset. 

- Your English is excellent (C2 CEFR). Some German would be an advantage. 

- You are self-organized and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects with various deadlines and priorities. 

- You approach political topics, and intercultural cooperation sensitively and you are willing to learn and grow together with the rest of the team.  

- You have an interest in Holocaust-related issues. 

- You are available for occasional business travel, including for the IHRA’s bi-annual week-long plenary meetings. 

- Experience with Indesign or with optimizing web content for search engines would be a plus. 

- Ideally you are based in Berlin, but remote candidates within Germany would also be considered. Applicants should already hold a valid work permit for Germany.

- A time-limited contract 

- A 19.5-hour work week 

- Remuneration in line with TVöD E2

- The option to work from home or from our office in the center of Berlin 

- Flexible hours (with core hours to be agreed)

- 6 weeks holiday per year
